  1. Hey Misty,
Good questions! Actually, EETT federal legislation requires school districts to have a plan for educating students in copyright violation. Sadly, the plan tends to be in the document and not strictly enforced in districts - just too much to do.
I suggest you look at the following resource:

Great start for educating students, parents, and teachers!

    1. Hi Doc,
Thanks for sharing this website. I really like how they have it individualized for teachers, parents, students, techies, small business, and military! I understand that teachers have many responsibilities to complete each and every day, however, I think this is really important that copyright is being addressed because students are so involved online, not only in academics, but socially too. I think there should be a heavier emphasis placed on this. I guess my new question is, how do teachers find the appropriate time to complete a unit on copyright? My wheels are turning and I am thinking that this might be a nice presentation for a parent night at the high school. Maybe have a bocure put together, and have it linked to our school website.

  2. I have to agree with you that copyright issues need to be looked at not only by the teachers but the students have to be educated on what can and cannot be use with/without permission.
To make sure this does not become a serious problem in the future we have to increase the training in understanding the copyright laws. Students must assume that works on the internet are copyrighted.Article I found on the internet is "Copyright Issues and Laws On Internet"
