Hello, Openness is a great word to use on the subject. I believe that the changes that have to take place to move into online education are scary for some people. The fear of the unknown is what holds back many institutions and individual instructors. I believe that gradual integration of online lessons and assignments could make the process easier for some students and teachers as time goes on. Just this week I talked with a teacher at work and her comment was “That online stuff sure is popular now, I don’t know how long it will last, but it’s doing well now”. In my mind the inclusion of online learning will gain momentum as time goes on. People are integrating technology into their lives more and more every day, why not in the field of education? I, like you, am a dog parent and look forward to your input in the class. Thanks for a great post. Aaron Hurd
It is great to meet you and I look forward to learning with you this semester! You have my utmost respect already as an Algebra II teacher. I enjoyed trigonometry and statistics, but Algebra II and geometry never came easily to me. I ran the opposite way and obtained an English Literature degree.
I agree that openness is very relevant. Teachers, students, and administration have to share resources and visions to ensue that a path can be determined. I think flexibility is equally important. As legislation, protocols, and culture shift, a middle ground must be negotiated.
Hi Misty. I look forward to working with you throughout this course.
I wholeheartedly agree with your stance on openness when it comes to distance and online education. Because technology changes so rapidly, the future in online learning is certainly hard to predict. Stakeholders at every level must be willing to try new approaches and be able to adapt to new technologies as they become available. It is important for educational technologists to stay abreast of what’s ahead and be as informed as possible in order to lead the way in innovative practices.
It is very nice to meet you Misty! I enjoyed watching your video post. I found your word choice very intriguing. Openness is definitely not something that came to mind right away however, I agree with how you described it. I do believe that in order to incorporate any technology in education, there needs to be the willingness to accept change and go with the flow. With technology constantly changing, being able to adapt and try new things is imperative. I look forward to working with you throughout this course.
Welcome, Misty!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see you again. Yay for eight more weeks of fun!
